Bryan Mercier, LMFT, Certified PCIT Clinician
Bryan attended and graduated from University of Rhode Island's (URI) Couples and Family Therapy program because he understood the relationship between complex family patterns and individual well-being. Bryan applied this principle to his work in Ledyard Youth Services in Ledyard, CT to serve students K-12 struggling with anxiety, family conflict, trauma, and emotional dysregulation. Bryan also found the URI Clinic a home for working with families and couples experiencing infidelity, relationships stress, and substance use. Early in his career, Bryan worked at Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) in a community-based setting, working with families in the child welfare system and helping families work through balancing financial uncertainty, trauma experiences, and other systemic factors. During this time, Bryan noticed the connection between early childhood experiences, parental stress, and future outcomes, which led him to seek a career as an early childhood clinician and become certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Bryan is currently and actively engaged in the PCIT International Community to receive continuous education and support in helping families manage challenging behaviors while simultaneous improving mental health outcomes for children and parents. In addition to his clinical work, Bryan has a facilitated presentations on attachment-based therapy, trauma-informed care, and PCIT principles to other clinicians and providers in the field. Bryan's humanistic approach and attachment-based lens can assist families in achieving their goals by building on strengths, advocating for individual and family needs, and transforming patterns.
